Ready for a Wedding

Last weekend we went to a friend's wedding and had a blast. The ceremony was wonderful—everyone in the wedding party was all shined up and sparkly. The groom was a handsome young man. The bride was radiant as her Dad walked her down the aisle—and positively beaming when her husband escorted her away after the vows, rings and kiss.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed beverages while photos were taken. Kay Charlotte and I had a great time mingling with old friends and meeting new ones. Levi and Taylor enjoyed exploring the beautiful hotel grounds.

But the best part was the party. The meal amazing, Kay Charlotte and I had the salmon, while the kids had the chicken—both were yummy! After dinner, the dancing began—I so loved being out on the floor with my sweetheart. (Honey, we need to dance more…!) Even the kids got out onto the floor—we got all goofy and silly grooving to all the tunes the DJ spun up. A special moment for me was dancing with Taylor to Sinatra's, The Way You Look Tonight. (I'm tagged in a video on Facebook)

The highlight of the night may have been when Levi took a flying leap to catch the bride's garter…

When we got back in the car, we were all still talking and laughing. On the drive home I got to thinking, "This must be what heaven is like." I guess sometimes I fall into the trap of thinking that heaven is going to be boring—that it's all cherubs, harps and clouds. But the Bible describes a great wedding.

Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:
Praise the Lord!
For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Let us be glad and rejoice,
and let us give honor to him.
For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,
and his bride has prepared herself.
She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”
For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”

The Groom is coming for us, His Bride. There will be a feast and a celebration—I can't wait for that party!
